CPAP-Sleep Apnea Machine

Well, I have been using it for 2 nights and I have to say, I don't notice a difference like everyone said I would. I still wake up tired. An even more so, I wake up ticked off and feeling trapped and claustrophobic. Oh an did I mention the big red sore spot on the bridge of my nose, when the strap has to be pulled so tight and the bridge thingy has to be turned so tight to keep the air from leaking. Or what about waking up to water sputtering in my face last night from inside the mask at 3:30am. Then when I woke up again at 6:30 to take the machine off it was filled with water and I got soaked. Something has to give. I set the dial for the humidifier down to 2, so we will see what happens tonight. If not, I am calling them tomorrow about this machine. I need sleep! So, now to hook myself up and try to get some.

Tony Hawk's Worldwide Easter "Egg" Hunt

So, Tony Hawk decided to do a Easter Egg Hunt and hide skate decks instead of eggs around the world. Places like Ireland, Australia, and of course the USA. New York, California, Texas, Arizona, Tenn, and so many others. Kentucky was also picked and Louisville with its Extreme Park was a great city to hide 2 "eggs" in. On Saturday night the first clue came out on his twitter page

It seems someone started early in KY, so this one is for the skaters in Louisville: Next to the southernmost hubba at the Cinema Hubbas

I got on the web and saw it was up just as I was ready to crawl into bed after being at the ballpark all day. But, what a great easter basket item to find the next morning. I couldn't do it. So off I went in search of the "cinema hubbas" Now, I am a mom, not up to my skateboard lingo, so I started searching the web, for what a hubba was, and where to go. I went to Stoneybrook and The theaters on Preston and searched everywhere I could. Let me tell you, those are big theater with large lots, lots of bushes and places to skate. The police I spoke to to let them know I wasn't crazy..thought I was crazy. But, hey my IPOD touch showed Tony's clue and they weren't going to stop me.

My ex-husband was on the phone, googling away from wherever he was trying to help me come up with ideas. We found nothing. At 4am I came home, no skateboard, and very tired. I googled some more and found a video on myspace about the "cinema hubbas". Problem was there were so many "hubba" which one was the "cinema hubbas" Hmm, that place looks familiar and so did a lot of the rest of them in the video. I am almost 39, lived here all my life, I know I have seen it them but where? Forget it, it was probably at the Extreme Park I thought, and some random kid, who has no twitter clue found it and it just isn't going to be posted as being found. I am going to bed, there is always the hope of another "egg" tomorrow.
I woke up the next morning at 9:33 and checked Twitter, there were no updates so off I went to the bathroom. Came back and there it was

Where I'm From

I am from warm beds, from Crisco Shortening and ball parks.

I am from the back of Shallow Creek, surrounded by the woods, where the creek got dammed every summer.

I am from the persimmon tree and the weeping willow that could be used for a switch.

I am from Sunday fried chicken dinner and premature gray hair, from Grandma, Dad, Uncle Bob and Aunt Donna too.

I am from my "Because I said so" and "Yes, dear that's right."

From no you can't and yes you can.

I am from Mass with class during the week, youth group on Sunday nights and always at 5:30 on Saturday or Sunday morning with family.

I'm from Louisville, Kentucky with a lot of German in me, a bit of Irish, a bit of American Indian an other bits as well.

Derby pies and au gratin potatoes were Mom's specialty but don't ask for much else. But from Dad, whatever you want.

From Christmas Eve when Santa comes to fill the floor with so many presents you can hardly walk in the room. From Christmas Day filled with family, love, roast beef, Aunt Audrey and Dad and a shot or 2 in the kitchen. Pop singing Santa Claus is coming to Town while you sit on his lap. An if you are so very lucky, a soft snow will have fallen and a walk around the block after dinner will take place, with the "men" and children while Christmas carols are sung.

I am from Dad's top drawer, filled with old cards from Father's Day to Birthdays, homemade, then store bought, but never thrown away. From Mom's hatbox overflowing with old pictures, cards, Polaroids, and report cards.

I am surrounded by family found in books and boxes on walls and in frames in many homes.

The Science of Love

Shannon..., you are a
BUILDER/negotiator
About Your Personality Type
You tend to be traditional. Home, family, job and community are all central to you. You like being firmly embedded in your social and business groups and you feel deeply responsible for just about everyone around you. You can be fiercely protective of those you love.

You are skilled at managing people. You are sympathetic and cooperative; you are also hard working and display a good deal of caution and common sense. And you can be very patient. So you can complete detailed, painstaking jobs more easily than most people.

You enjoy building social relationships. You have excellent verbal and people skills. You are talented at achieving solutions to complex problems so that all involved feel fulfilled. You have a hard headed too. You tend to respect rules, schedules and routines.

You also see the big picture, have a fine imagination and can be remarkably intuitive. You like to play with ideas and examine the meaning of life. And because you have a genuine sense of community, you seek projects that enable you to contribute to a more stable world.

You are relaxed and easy to be with, so you attract a range of friends and admirers. But you are picky. You are attracted to those who share your values; moral fiber in a partner is important to you. You also admire those who respect rules, schedules, and traditions. And you particularly admire those who have a sense of social responsibility--who spend their time and money on events that are charitable or strengthen family, business or the community ties. You see the big picture and see way down the road; so you like to prepare for the future. And although you enjoy people who play with ideas, your "true love" must complement you. You admire those who are direct, analytical, authentic and assertive and can enjoy your orderly and compassionate nature.
Relating to others
You are somewhat stoical. You believe that difficulties are inevitable. With this practical attitude, coupled with your dependable, cooperative and "can-do" spirit, you often become a central and effective player in your social and business networks. That's right, spring break is over. The weather was nice and warm this past weekend and I am glad Jake got to enjoy the outside weather. Today is going to just get colder as the day goes by. It is Monday. No school for me! So, I am going back to bed. Did I mention I hate mornings?

So I have it

Sleep Apnea that is. I got my test results back today in the mail from my study. Evidently my oxygen levels go down to 75% while I sleep and my RDI(Respiratory Disturbance Index, the average times per hour my breathing is interrupted causing me to wake to a light level of sleep or wake completely) is 38.5. The norm for these is, oxygen above 90% and RDI of 5 or less. I am going back for another test in 10 days to be fitted for a CPAP(Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) machine. Now when I go to sleep I get to have a nice mask on my face to look like an alien from another planet, but hey...at least I won't sound like one anymore.....Hopefully
