Tony Hawk's Worldwide Easter "Egg" Hunt

So, Tony Hawk decided to do a Easter Egg Hunt and hide skate decks instead of eggs around the world. Places like Ireland, Australia, and of course the USA. New York, California, Texas, Arizona, Tenn, and so many others. Kentucky was also picked and Louisville with its Extreme Park was a great city to hide 2 "eggs" in. On Saturday night the first clue came out on his twitter page

I got on the web and saw it was up just as I was ready to crawl into bed after being at the ballpark all day. But, what a great easter basket item to find the next morning. I couldn't do it. So off I went in search of the "cinema hubbas" Now, I am a mom, not up to my skateboard lingo, so I started searching the web, for what a hubba was, and where to go. I went to Stoneybrook and The theaters on Preston and searched everywhere I could. Let me tell you, those are big theater with large lots, lots of bushes and places to skate. The police I spoke to to let them know I wasn't crazy..thought I was crazy. But, hey my IPOD touch showed Tony's clue and they weren't going to stop me.

My ex-husband was on the phone, googling away from wherever he was trying to help me come up with ideas. We found nothing. At 4am I came home, no skateboard, and very tired. I googled some more and found a video on myspace about the "cinema hubbas". Problem was there were so many "hubba" which one was the "cinema hubbas" Hmm, that place looks familiar and so did a lot of the rest of them in the video. I am almost 39, lived here all my life, I know I have seen it them but where? Forget it, it was probably at the Extreme Park I thought, and some random kid, who has no twitter clue found it and it just isn't going to be posted as being found. I am going to bed, there is always the hope of another "egg" tomorrow.
I woke up the next morning at 9:33 and checked Twitter, there were no updates so off I went to the bathroom. Came back and there it was

I flew in to get wake Jake up, he was laying in bed eyes open. I just yelled" Get your clothes on, grab my keys, get in the car! Tony Hawk has a skateboard hidden an I know where it is." I ran back in my room, grabbed dirty (yes dirty) clothes from yesterday, off the floor, put them on and down the stairs I went, out the door to the car. We drove as fast as we could to Home Skate Shop. Taking the back roads, avoiding Bardstown Road as long as we could. It took 11 minutes to get dressed and drive the 7 miles to there. Stopping at 2 red lights, that took forever. Jake ran from my car to be stopped by a woman shutting her car door, holding up some sort of paper, shaking her head. I knew as his head dropped. They had beat us by a stop light and found it. He walked the distance back to the car, head hung. I was waiting for the tears to flow. Even at 13, to be that close to finding one of his biggest hero's autographed decks was a little to emotional for this teen to handle. He got in the car and said, can you please see if they will sell it to us. I had to tell him know. I didn't see any kids in their car and I couldn't even imagine the price someone would put on it.

I let Jake know, the chances of him finding one that day were probably less than 1%, at that moment, he had raised his chance to 50%. He got beat by a stop light. He held his head up and said,"Next time, just run the stupid thing!" with a smile on his face. I knew Jake was still upset but it was ok. I started thinking, wait, there is still 1 left unless someone found it and just never posted. But, heck we are up lets look around Louisville.

We called one of Jake's oldest friends Matt and asked him if he knew what the "Cinema hubbas" were. Matt was with some other skateboard friends and they suggested looking at old closed down movie theaters since I had looked at the open ones. Showcase Cinemas instantly came to mind. Right up Bardstown Road, a couple of miles away from us. Made sense to me. So off we went. Jake searched every bit of concrete around there he could. We found nothing but a piece of wax on the concrete ledge in the front behind the old sign. A little discouraged we decided to go get my nephew and check in on twitter for any updates.

Nothing reported on twitter. Off to get Chance (my nephew) and to decide, go to the Extreme Park look around an see if Chris at Adrenaline Zone is in an ask him if he knows what the "Cinema hubbas" are or drive to Tinseltown, the last movie theater to check in Louisville for us. Jake decided to head to the Extreme Park but to drive by Showcase and look again. So off we went. Nothing at the Showcase this time either. Jake check some of the bushes around there but didn't see anything.
Not ready to give up, we headed downtown, stopping in Adrenaline Zone (go in there for all your skating and biking needs) We talked to them afor a bit and one of the guys (sorry forgot your name) was nice enough to get out the Mac and google Showcase Cinemas, telling us a couple of to places look at. Third times a charm? Off we went again.
Jake and Chance began there search looking in every nook and cranny they could. Chance searched mostly the concrete area and Jake decided he was going to crawl in the bushes and check. I drove up to the front and they were almost done looking for the 3rd time. The only part left to search was the area we found the wax at earlier in the morning. I parked by the old sign and began reading Tony Hawk's twitter updates. There it was

Oh no! It has been found. I have to tell Jake I thought. I looked at the picture and thought

"MOM!!!MOM!! OH MY OH MY! I FOUND IT! I FOUND IT!" Came the yelling in the car.


Turns out that picture was from the people we saw earlier in the morning at home skate shop. Sure enough, Jake had found it. After almost 13 hours of looking we had trully found it.

We took some pictures, made some phone calls to family to let them now and drove home to upoad the pix and post to Tony Hawk
